Professional Sources for Education and School Libraries

Professional Reading

Once educators and school librarians leave the academic world to live their professional lives in the schools, sometimes little professional support is found within the classroom walls and on the school campus. Locating informative and valuable information online that supports the needs of the educator or the librarian may be invaluable in addition to offering continuing professional development. What is provided here are sites that educators and school librarians have suggested as helpful to them in supporting their continued professional development outside of the academic classroom setting. NOTE: Most of these sites listed contain peer-reviewed articles or are by professional reviewers. Social sites of the 2.0 world have not been included because they are not held in the same esteem. However, that is not to discredit them. They are of considerable value for various purposes. We must be users of information and know how to evaluate our sources for specific purposes. If you have additional sources that you would like to see listed here or other comments, please contact me at haw001@shsu.edu
